- This chapter gives a brief outlook on future sanitary solutions in special areas (natural protected areas). Natural parks and recreation zones have requirements that make it difficult to install a comfortable sanitary facility. Dry toilets or chemical toilet systems are often used. The conditions of these facilities are summarized and their suitability is questioned. Due to increasing waste and feces contamination in the environment, there are alternatives like a self-sufficient toilet system.
